Bridging research and infrastructure for Africa's energy future
Enerverge partners with universities, industry, and government to produce applied research that shapes how African cities are built, powered, and governed.
A research-industry bridge institution
Research & publication
Applied research across energy, urban planning, geospatial intelligence, and AI — co-produced with university faculty.
Industry collaboration
We work with infrastructure companies, investors, and policymakers who need rigorous local data to make decisions.
Student engagement
We connect students and willing lecturers to live research projects, industry problems, and professional networks.
Where we specialise
Six domains, each with active sub-disciplines. Click any domain to explore.
Renewable energy
From solar sizing to grid reform — we research the full stack of how African communities generate, distribute, and pay for electricity.
Solar energy sizing
Optimal PV system design for residential, commercial, and mini-grid applications across Nigerian climate zones.
Smart metering & AMI
Advanced metering infrastructure, prepaid systems, and demand-side management across distribution networks.
Energy tariffs & regulation
Cost-reflective tariff design, subsidy reform, and regulatory frameworks for sustainable energy utilities.
Energy poverty & last-mile access
Mapping and measuring energy poverty indicators, household energy transitions, and last-mile electrification solutions.
Battery & storage systems
Lithium-ion economics, second-life batteries, and storage integration for off-grid and hybrid systems.
Energy finance & investment
Blended finance models, DFI engagement, carbon credits, and bankability frameworks for African energy projects.
NAIBA — Nigeria Area Intelligence & Built-Asset Dataset
NAIBA is Enerverge's foundational geospatial dataset covering Nigerian settlements, infrastructure corridors, property distribution, and energy access patterns. It underpins Ardhigrid, our intelligence platform, and is available to research partners and licensed commercial users.
The team behind the research
Researchers, lecturers, and industry practitioners across our domain areas.
Specialises in mini-grid economics and tariff design for under-served Nigerian communities. Twelve years of applied infrastructure research.
Energy affordability and household expenditure modelling. Former advisor on the Nigerian electricity market reform agenda.
Builds H3-indexed pipelines for settlement analysis and leads the NAIBA spatial schema. Background in remote sensing and earth observation.
Spatial machine learning and computer vision applied to satellite imagery. Publishes on roof classification across Nigerian LGAs.
Studies the intersection of energy reliability and primary health facility outcomes in northern Nigeria.
Three engagement tracks
With universities
Faculty partnerships, co-supervised student projects, joint publications and datasets.
With industry
Contract research, data licensing, prefeasibility studies, advisory engagements, and open research funding.
With students
Interest registration, project placement, and cohort programmes. All levels welcome.
